I guess when you're speeding, it doesn't matter that !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

Here's the scoop: a modified Lamborghini Aventador flew through an intersection around lunchtime at Alberni and Burrard Street where it was kissed by a Chevrolet Cobalt. The Lambo driver was a young Asian fella with his girlfriend in the passenger seat. From first appearances it looks like everyone involved is OK. Therefore I will now introduce the funny tweets that followed:

seriously, this stereotype has some actual origins in fact. Rich Hong Kong businessmen send their kids over here for school. These kids have pretty much no parental guidance and a shit ton of money. I'll bet you that lambo was bought with daddy's money, no questions asked.

result is young, spoiled, bratty asian kids who don't give a shit about rules, because rules have never applied to them in the first place.

weird how Canadians see things like causing a large traffic collision, that results in an impact to one drivers door, as a small thing.

That was a significant accident, not a fender bender.....

Kinja'd!!! v10junkie > pirates-ecu
06/17/2014 at 20:10

Kinja'd!!!0

The issue isn't with suing for a large traffic accident (and to be honest that Cobalt did not get the worst of it), but the need to sue because the guy has an expensive car. If you are injured to the point you life has changed, or you cannot work and insurance will not cover it, sure, sure away. From what the pictures show both would be walking away no worse for wear. You sound like a blood sucking money grubbing fool. Maybe you should go spill a coffee on your lap and sue over it, moron.

Kinja'd!!! pirates-ecu > v10junkie
06/17/2014 at 20:14

Kinja'd!!!1

go suck an egg troll,

take a look at those pictures, obviously the lambo was waiting to take a left, tried to punch a small gap and slammed into the side of the car.

the point of the comment is the IDIOT that caused the collision in the intersection is going to be sued, be it directly or through insurance. If i got rammed in an intersection while driving legally, I am going to sue the shit out of the other driver regardless of the model of car they drive.

I said it once and ill say it again, cars are giant multi-ton boxes of liability. That is the reason i drive defensively, and do everything i can to avoid stupid shit like this.... Rear ending someone in a fender bender is one thing. YOU DON'T RUN HEAD LONG INTO SOMEONES DRIVER DOOR, UNLESS YOU HAVE FUCKED UP ROYALLY.

Typically liability insurance for property damage is capped at a certain amount in the policy, (aka the policy limit) ($50,000 was the standard when I worked in a claims office in NJ ~15 years ago). Presumably the person driving the expensive car will have full coverage and that will pay for the rest. The insurance company could probably go after the individual personally for the balance above policy limits, but I doubt too many companies would bother, especially if the other driver is driving a Cobalt.

This is what gets weird about owning a premium/exotic car. If you get into a fender-bender, it's suddenly a circus for everyone beyond the two drivers involved but if it were a Corolla with the nose bashed in, it's not something that makes waves in a blog post.

The last time I was in Vancouver, there was a beautiful blond woman driving an Elise. I don't think I've ever been so aroused. I told her how cool it was that she would drive that car, and she told me it was her second one. She apparently was t-boned at high speed in a Vancouver intersection and totaled the first one. Vancouver is not a good place for exotic sports cars.

It would be more surprising if there was an accident at that intersection that didn't involve a 6 figure car. I once saw a limo hit a Bentley on that corner. Also saw another limo hit 3 pedestrians there too.
